DESCRIPTION
The driveway of most homes is much more than a path for automobiles. The driveway is the site of quick basketball games, first bicycle rides, sidewalk chalk murals and hopscotch marathons. Well-maintained driveways are also a point of pride in neighborhoods and a selling point if you need to relocate.
One of the best ways to ensure your concrete driveway is ready for years of use is to invest in a quality concrete sealer. MasonryDefender concrete sealer for driveways not only protects your surface from the abuse of automobile oils and fluids but also adds a protective barrier against temperature extremes and moisture penetration. Sealer also creates a surface easily cleaned after an art lesson or car fluid leak, preventing long-term staining of the driveway.
If you live in an environment with regular temperature fluctuations or inclement weather, MasonryDefender provides a barrier against the elements. Proper application of our sealant helps prevent surface cracks caused by concrete expansion and contraction during colder temperatures. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
MasonryDefender® Concrete Driveway Sealer is an architectural grade, silane/siloxane blended product that bonds with the minerals in concrete and masonry to provide long-lasting water repellency. It is ideally suited for concrete where maximum chloride ion (de-icing salts) protection is needed. MasonryDefender® Concrete Driveway Sealer is breathable, non-film forming, and will not alter surface color or appearance.

This product is not designed to protect below-grade and/or interior concrete surfaces.
HOW TO USE CONCRETE SEALER
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Before use, read all directions for preparation, application, and safety information. Always test each type of surface before application for suitability and desired results before proceeding with general application. Surface and air temperatures should be a minimum of 40°F and a maximum of 100°F for three hours following application. Do not apply to frozen or frost covered surfaces. Application must be to clean, sound, dry to slightly damp surfaces. Do not apply to wet or water saturated surfaces or when rainfall is expected within six hours.
Limitations:
Do not use on asphalt-based material and surfaces. Do not apply to painted surfaces. This product is not intended for interior use or for below-grade applications.
SURFACE PREPARATION
This product is step 2 of a 2 step system. For best results and to activate your warranty, both steps must be followed. First, clean the surface with MasonryDefender All Purpose Masonry & Concrete Cleaner. Then apply Concrete Driveway Sealer.
STEP 1: CLEAN CONCRETE
Clean surface with MasonryDefender All Purpose Masonry & Concrete Cleaner per label instructions. If oil or grease stains are present, use a quality degreasing cleaner available at most hardware or home improvement stores. If desired, a pressure washer can be used to rinse cleaner off and may result in a cleaner surface than rinsing with a garden hose alone. Allow surface to dry, waiting a minimum of 6 hours before proceeding to next step.
STEP 2: APPLY SEALER
Apply a single application of Concrete Driveway Sealer with a low pressure pump-up garden sprayer so that the surface remains wet for two to three minutes before final absorption. Avoid puddling or ponding; brush or broom to spread material until it thoroughly penetrates the surface.
Coverage Rate:
Coverage rates will typically range from 90-150 sq. ft. per gallon depending on surface porosity. Do not thin product.
Note:
Over-application of material may cause darkening of surface.
Storage and Disposal:
Do not store below 32° F. Dispose of this container and any unused product in accordance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
Dry Time:
Surface will be dry in 2-6 hours, depending on temperature and humidity. Allow 24 hours before driving on surface.
Cleanup:
Clean tools immediately after each use with soap and water.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)
My homeowner’s association regulates color choices for exterior paint jobs. Does concrete driveway sealer change the color of my concrete?
MasonryDefender’s concrete driveway sealer is a clear sealant. It does not “paint” the driveway. Instead, only a slight difference in concrete tone is recognized. Compare it to the difference in shades experienced between a dry concrete and a slightly damp surface. No gloss is created.
Will this product seal cracks in my driveway?
MasonryDefender can provide a barrier over microcracks starting to form in the surface of your concrete but is not a patch solution for driveways already experiencing separating cracks from heaving or other types of damage.
Do I need to clean my concrete first?
Yes. We recommend using MasonryDefender All Purpose Masonry and Concrete Cleaner to remove dirt, dust and any existing car fluids from your concrete before starting the sealing process. If oil and grease stains are present on the surface, use a degreasing solution before application of the cleaner.
When should I apply the sealant?
After cleaning, apply sealant on a day with temperatures between 40 and 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Never apply when there is ice or frost on the surface or when a surface is wet or will experience rainfall within a six-hour time period.
When can I drive on the new surface?
Our product dries within six hours, but we recommend that you avoid driving on the new surface for a minimum of 24 hours for best results.
