MasonryDefender Chimney Flashing Sealer seals and protects chimney flashings (where the chimney meets the roof) as well as any other protrusions in a roof including skylights or vents. It provides a long lasting, flexible, waterproof membrane that protects against water intrusion. This product is ready to use and can be easily applied with a paint brush. Unlike other tar-based products, this product is permanently flexible and will not crack or become brittle.

DIRECTIONS

Before use, read all directions for preparation, application, and safety information. Always test each type of surface before application for suitability and desired results before proceeding with general application. Surface and air temperature should be a minimum of 45º F at the time of application but not greater than 95º F. Do not apply if temperature is expected to drop below 45º F within a 4 hour period. Do not apply to frozen or frost covered surfaces. Do not apply to water saturated surfaces and/or when rain is expected within four hours unless adequate protection with a polyethylene film or its equivalent is provided. Store unused product in an airtight container above 32º F.

SURFACE PREPARATION

Surface to be coated must be structurally sound, not loose. Surface must be clean and dry. Place drop cloths at base of chimney to protect roof from inadvertent spills. Brush surface to be coated with a stiff poly or wire brush to remove loose particles. To produce a clean edge, the use of duct tape will produce clean edges and enhance the appearance of the repair.

APPLICATION

Using a brush, apply a liberal coat of material, making sure to fill all cracks and voids completely. Extend application beyond problem area about one inch.
Note: On hot days, material may dry quickly. Work in 2-3 foot sections.
Coverage: 1/2 half gallon will cover approximately 14 square feet.
Dry Time: Dries to touch in 30 – 60 minutes. Product cures completely within 6 – 12 hours depending on temperature/humidity.
Clean-Up: Remove product from tools immediately after each use by scrubbing with a brush and water. To clean inadvertent spills from roofs, etc., remove excess and clean remaining product with a stiff nylon scrub brush and water. Rinse thoroughly.
Caution: Do not use in cold, damp, rainy weather or product may wash away. Allow at least 12 hours of dry, clear weather for proper curing.

CAUTIONS

Keep out of reach of children. Respiratory protection is not generally required during normal use and handling. The use of protective gloves and chemical splash goggles is recommended. Wash thoroughly after handling.

FIRST AID

If inhaled: Supply fresh air; consult doctor in case of complaints. For eye contact: Remove contact lenses if worn. Rinse opened eye for several minutes under running water. If symptoms persist, consult a doctor. If swallowed: Rinse out mouth and then drink plenty of water. Do not induce vomiting; immediately call for medical help. WARRANTY

SaverSystems warrants that MasonryDefender Chimney Flashing Sealer, will remain intact and in place for 5 years from the date of application, when properly applied to a residential flashing of a chimney, stack or vent system according to label instructions. This warranty does not cover spalling, abrading, faulty construction and/or other defects which might erode coated surfaces. If MasonryDefender Chimney Flashing Sealer fails to perform as specified, SaverSystems will furnish without charge, enough product to correct the condition as your sole remedy. This warranty does not include labor or cost of labor for the application of MasonryDefender Chimney Flashing Sealer. SaverSystems shall not be liable for direct or incidental or consequential damages resulting from any breach of this warranty and fitness for use. Some states do not allow the exclusion of incidental or consequential damages, so the above exclusions may not apply to you. This warranty gives you specific legal rights. You may also have other rights which vary from state to state.
